Agnes's story
Introducing Agnes! This sweet Retriever mix was found as a matted and dirty stray. The shelter estimated her to be approximately 13 years old and believed that she may have been kept outside most of her life. Aggie is a sweet girl who is very happy to live with other dogs, but is also fine without their company. She was cat-tested at the shelter and did very well, but has not actually shared her home with any feline friends. This older lady is happy to keep to herself when you're busy or lay down by your side when you're available for company. She is a smart senior who will go to the door to go out, and then stands at the door to come in. If you don't open the door, after awhile she will paw at the door and remind you that she is an INDOOR dog now! Agnes is quiet and calm. We have yet to ever hear her bark. In her foster home, Aggie has her own spot in the laundry room, where she will go when she wants to chill. Joint supplements have made Aggie less stiff and she is enjoying life way more. Since she spent most of her life outside, she is still learning the ropes of being in a home and will sometimes have an accident if you don't pick up on her cues to go out. She is getting better at this every day, and has improved 1000% since she first arrived. Agnes loves food so much that sometimes she will help herself to bowls of food meant for her foster siblings (not at all aggressively, but sometimes other dogs may be offended by this!) For that reason, it is best to feed Agnes on her own.
Agnes is a great girl who would love to become a member of your pack. If interested in adopting her, please complete an application at Any questions can be sent to mailto:[email protected]. Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file.
