Chinese Silk Carpet, Silk on Cotton, Handmade in Shanghai. I personally purchased this rug in 1987 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia from Al Nawaras Nest Iranian Oriental Carpets, one of the best known dealers in Riyadh and they were still in business as of last year. It's very soft with bright color which changes with viewing angle. I have the original receipt and certificate. I have discounted the price for some minor damage where the silk is frayed in two spots from removal of stains. It needs a professional cleaning and touch-up to fix the damage I did, which is not really that noticeable. I paid $800 for this rug in 1987 and it would probably be worth $1200-$1500 in perfect condition. It measures 122cm x 183cm or 48" x 72".
