My story
Are you my perfect loving forever home?
Please let me introduce myself: My name is Duncan, and I am a handsome 2 yr old liver & white neutered male with a beautiful brown face. I have long legs and weigh about 57 lbs. I love my people dearly. UTD on vaccines, HW/Tick neg. On HW/FT prevention. Housebroken. Microchipped.
My gold eyes and brown face make me look so intense but really, I am nothing but a lover. I am a moderately active, easy going young man that loves everyone. I live with 3 canine brothers and 3 inside dog savvy kitties. I was really interested in the kitties at first but now I ignore them. I love to play with my foster brothers! We wrestle and run like the wind in our yard. My foster brothers and family make me a very happy boy!
I want to be close to my people all the time but have learned to lie down when you are eating at the table and will not beg for your food. I can be trusted inside the home and at bedtime I will happily sleep either with you in your bed or in a doggy bed close by. (I’d rather be in bed with you thou).
My perfect family wish list is simple: 1) I love someone to be with me most of the time, walking, jogging, playing or relaxing. I do well when left at home and normally curl up on the couch and sleep or sit on the “dog couch” and keep watch with my foster brothers over the back yard in the sun room. I’ve been ok when my family left and I wiggle with excitement when they get home! 2) I need a fun active playmate to wrestle and play with, flat toys, healthy food, and a large, fenced yard with big trees to find squirrels and birdies. I like to chew on Kongs and benebones and love toys.
From Foster Parents: Duncan has had some training in his prior life and knows a few basic commands. He knows sit, down, out, come, and probably more. Duncan takes treats gently and is at a perfect weight for him. Duncan is one smart, sweet boy! He is house trained and will go to the back door when he needs to potty. Duncan has not been in a crate since he’s been in foster care. He easily loads in our truck or car and rides like a dream. We walk with collar, harness and leads outside the yard. Duncan loves to play outside with our dogs and is perfect 99.9% of the time; however, he does get focused when he sees a squirrel or bird in the yard. He will normally come when we’re out playing but seeing a squirrel can interfere with his hearing. Evenings, he is a relaxed goofball and enjoys being on the couch with us or laying close by stretched out in a silly position!
Duncan must have a privacy 5' fence or Aluminum/ Wrought Iron. He can climb a chainlink.
Duncan learned about toys by watching our resident dogs play and now loves to play! Duncan has a slightly submissive nature and blends in well with the family and resident dogs. He enjoys our “dog savvy” grandchildren and loves to play with them. His “worse” in home manners are the fact he wants to close. He has learned when we tell him “out of the kitchen” to leave while we’re cooking and will lie at the entry. He likes to be underfoot but is smart and open to learning.
Duncan is not a free feeder. He eats twice a day (morning and evening) and eats from a raised bowl. Duncan wants someone to love him and continue teaching him how fun life can be! He’s a very bright pupil.
