Job Title: Support Worker/Personal Care Assistant

Hours/shifts: 4 hours x 3 days per week (weekdays with occasional weekends). Flexible on time but no early mornings. Ideally a weekly routine but will have some flexibility.
Summary
Support required for 25-year-old man to enable him to become more independent and gain confidence with community/social activities and daily living tasks.
He lives with his family in Eastbourne.
He has Autism and learning/processing and memory difficulties and sometimes struggles with insomnia, depression and anxiety.
He is friendly, kind and helpful.
He has a job and his interests include aviation/military history, airsoft, heavy metal music, gaming, film and television, baseball, lego, dogs and travel. He is also learning Japanese.
You would be required to support him with going to social activities e.g. playing pool, cinema, concerts, joining clubs, going to expos/conventions (e.g., dog shows, gaming shows etc.). In addition, support to be more physically active e.g., dog walks, accessing airsoft events.
Encouragement and support to become more independent with completing everyday living tasks including grocery shopping and collecting prescriptions.
Ability to keep him safe and supervised in the community is essential.
Experience of Autism and/or learning difficulties is important.
You must be patient, understanding and reliable.
Driver with own car is essential. Reasonable mileage when taking the young man out will be reimbursed.
You would report to the young man’s mother who will be the employer.

Description
Typical duties
Domestic -
Reminding/encouragement to tidy up/clean bedroom when required.
Support to become more independent and gain confidence with tasks such as budgeting. Client wants to live independently in the future so help to prepare for that.
Personal Care:
Reminding/encouraging to shower/change clothes/get hair cut etc when required
Reminding to collect medication prescriptions
Encouragement to do physical activity e.g., dog walks
Social:
Accompanying and assisting with social and leisure activities such as going to the cinema, going to concerts, playing pool, accessing local clubs/events.
Accompanying on occasional longer journeys/day trips e.g., to a gaming expo or day trip to museums in London.
Driving him in your car or accompanying on public transport.
Keeping him safe and supervised at all times when out in the community.

Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
