Description

ULEZ Compliant1974 Jensen Interceptor MKIII LHD with 28,294 miles.Restored example that has just had further mechanical recomissioning works.Finished in a beautiful coat of Oatmeal over a fabulous Mocha interior, this example has been subject to a detailed restoration in excess of £50,000.Confirmed by the factory papers supplied, this Interceptor was signed off from the Jensen production line on the 17th of October 1973. Built as a LHD for the USA market, it was duly dispatched to sunny California where it spent the next 47 years until it was repatriated to the UK in 2020. As an original matching numbers car, it left the factory with the same 7.2 litre V8 engine it is currently fitted with and was remarkably finished in the same exterior body colour and interior that it is now. The build specification is confirmed by copy of the original production card, which is supplied along with a ‘Statement of Origin’ document from the records of Jensen Motors.Overseen by a talented engineer, this restoration is one of the most thorough we have come across and is fully documented by a photographic record and an accompanying letter breaking down the project. Every invoice and bill are present and points towards a restoration carried out with a fixation on quality rather than cost. Speaking of costs this Interceptor has had no less than £52,980 spent. Including the price of the car, it would have stood the previous owner in at a grand total of £75,980 and this doesn’t account for labour – a significant increase over our asking price.During the restoration the vehicle was treated to; a full bare metal respray, new leather seats, full stainless steel exhausts, new brake calipers, master cylinder, new white wall tyres, refurbished wheels, sound proof underlay, Wilton carpets, all new window rubbers, new heater, air con matrix, uprated water pump, fans, new battery, isolator switch, chrome refurbishments and finally a full interior retrim.Since acquiring the car we have taken our time and made sure that the car is as good as it can be. We have improved it tremendously and have carried out the following works: - Replacement rear diff- Exhaust fitting kit- Carburettor and electronic choke kit- Radiator including cooling fans and motors- Valley gaskets and seals- Window regulator- Igntion leads - Brake caliper reconditioned- Professionally tuning- Oil and filter serviceRumbling to life, this Jensen sounds wonderful through its stainless-steel exhaust system and starts on the button either hot or cold, thanks to having a modern ignition system fitted. On the road she feels planted and pulls smoothly through the gears with a great turn of speed, delivering confidence to the driver in abundance. What could be better? Roll down the windows so you can hear that glorious V8, pull the selector back into drive and aim that long fluted bonnet toward the open road in what must be one of the most iconic and beautiful British cars ever produced. And, better still being a left-hooker it is the ideal car to take on that European road trip you’ve been dreaming of.RCH 426M offers a truly unique opportunity to purchase a very special Interceptor at a fraction of the cost to restore one to this standard today. Before being supplied to her new owner the Interceptor will be fully inspected, serviced and if required a new MOT will be supplied.Fairmont Sports and Classics,18 Tallon Road,Hutton, Brentwood,Essex,CM13 1TJ.

About Us:

Our promise: “We ensure you’ll find your ideal classic car.”

Just moments from the M25, or a 23-minute train ride from London Liverpool Street and the City, our Fairmont Sports & Classics showroom team in Brentwood is committed to changing the way classic vehicles are bought and sold.

Classic models across the decades

Our stocklist – with new vehicles arriving daily – spans popular and iconic vehicles from the 60s through to the late 90s and beyond.

Over two floors we present a curated selection of more than 50 sports and classic cars – plus several motorcycles – all fully inspected, checked and ready to drive away, delivered, or shipped overseas.

We buy well so you’re not at risk

The buying team comprises seasoned motor industry professionals: our backgrounds span retail sales, fleet management, auction, wholesale, and service, inspection and maintenance. Having grown up with, driven and loved countless classics ourselves, we know what our customers look for: models and marques piquing current market interest; examples that are in excellent usable condition and order; and vehicles that represent a sound, good value investment.

An online portal search for any classic model will list several hundred vehicles across the UK. The unfortunate truth is that the vast majority, under scrutiny, will prove sub-standard, misrepresented or require uneconomic restoration or repair. Finding a good vehicle without motor trade experience is not for the faint-hearted.

We purchase our cars from private owners, collections and specialist auction houses. We are exceptionally selective about which vehicles we buy, when and why; we reject over 90% of all those we see. Those we purchase match varying customer demands: ‘best in market’ and fully original; fully or partially restored examples; and sound, practical, fun classics to be driven and enjoyed.

Whether you’re an investor, an enthusiast, or simply keen to recapture your youth, we’d love to help you find your ideal classic.

Warranty:

We want every customer to be confident in their purchase. Whilst we sell nationwide, many of our sales are local, with some customers revisiting to buy, sell or service more vehicles.

To ensure a worry-free motoring experience, we include our own pre-owned vehicle warranty and provide full servicing and support on-site.

The price of every car includes a six-month warranty for major component failure: engine, transmission, and final drive. For the first three months, it covers the cost of any essential parts and labour. Thereafter we provide a 50% discount on any essential parts and labour for the remaining three.

We also operate our own on-site workshop offering specialist classic vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs. The same mechanics that inspected and prepared your vehicle for sale will be delighted to keep it in good working order throughout your ownership.
