At our PAM foundry and manufacturing plant in Melton Mowbray, we are looking for a Department Leader, to lead a team of skilled colleagues within their designated area.
The Department Leader's purpose is to ensure the day-to-day delivery of production KPI's and the delivery of the production schedule through a team of up to 15 Operatives. It is critical that production is delivered safely, with you being a key driver and guardian of safety processes being followed across the team. You will be responsible for the delivery of KPI's in the area by ensuring that colleagues under your control understand their responsibilities and objectives and by adjusting as needed to ensure the delivery of production targets. You will be managing people, safety, production process controls and quality.
You will also play a role in the application of lean and improvement activities in your area, supported by functions across the site.
PAM is one of 30 Saint-Gobain brands and is the premier supplier of ductile iron and cast iron products. Our product range is extensive and includes; cast iron piping, fittings, valves, drainage systems, water/sewer pipelines, access covers and gratings. We supply some of the UK's key utilities, telecoms, highways, civil engineering, construction, and housing companies.
This is a full-time position based at our Melton Mowbray facility, predominantly Monday to Thursday working days and nights with occasional flexibility required with some overtime as needed.
What we're looking for:
Experience in leading teams in a production, manufacturing, or heavy industry environment would be advantageousKnowledge or experience in supporting and driving a team's performance through one to one's, reviews, appraisals, objective setting and performance managementPrevious experience in managing safety or formal safety training such as IOSH would be great, but this is an area we will deliver formal training in regardless of your experienceGreat organising and planning skills, with an ability to problem solve in the delivery of production plansA strong communicator, able to work with individuals at all levelsAny previous experience or training in lean tools such as Kaizen, 5s, six sigma, or similar would be an advantage but not essential
