The Opportunity:

QBE are hiring for an Underwriter to join our well–established and experienced UK Casualty team who focus on our major clients business. With a breadth of appetite, including multinational, in this role you will partner closely with broker and clients to underwrite across our growing portfolio in this market–facing role. We are underwriting led, empowering our underwriters to work autonomously – we are keen to speak with casualty professionals looking to make their next move!

Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to:

Underwrite insurance risks in accordance with the Business Plan and the personal authority to meet business objectivesBuild and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders including customers, brokers, business partners and colleagues, to maximise influenceDevelop relationships in line with the Business Plan to support the achievement of business objectivesUnderstand and comply with QBE reinsurance strategy to minimise risk and deliver business plan objectivesParticipate fully and use your expertise to shape and develop strategy, knowledge and best practicePositively promote the department, division and company as a whole, in order to maximise brand leverageComply with all legal and regulatory requirements to ensure obligations are metAdhere to underwriting standards, instructions and good practice to minimise risk and maximise efficiencyActively keep abreast of market dynamics and demonstrate market cycle awareness to be able to operate effectively and appropriatelyEnsure clear and prompt communication to UA's in relation to Underwriting and aggregate exposures ensuring entries on EO systems are accurate You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience:

Experience within the Casualty insurance marketCommercial ability to understand the key profit drivers to maximise long term wealth for our shareholdersIntermediate level understanding of relevant software, including Excel and other departmental software packagesExcellent organizational, prioritisation and interpersonal skillsGood negotiating skills, innovative in underwriting approach and programme design At My Best
