  Details

This 1967 Volkswagen Type 2 bus has been restored and modified by Kustom Coach Werks in Grand Junction, CO under the ownership of a VW enthusiast and former engineer. It’s powered by a rear-mounted four-cylinder engine that’s been bored to 2096cc and mated to a 4-speed manual transmission. It wears a green and white repaint with a Westfalia-style roof rack and white bumpers. The interior is dressed in gray fabric with green trim and wood cabinets. This example includes a rare and original VW awning that mounts to the passenger side of the van. Modifications in addition to the strong-running engine include increased stopping power from Audi-sourced front disc brakes, LED lighting inside and out, and upgraded power, inverter, and solar panel. It is currently located in Oklahoma City.

A third-party inspection and photos detail the current condition of this VW bus. Overall, the exterior reflects the quality and care taken in the restoration process and shows only minor scratches to the bumpers and paint. Inside, minor wear and staining on the door panels and headliner are consistent with the age of the vehicle. The seats were reupholstered during the restoration process and are found in good condition. Following a road test, all mechanical features performed as expected and the owner attests to the great power and feel of the modified 4-cylinder. Included with the vehicle are two keys, manuals, and the original VW awning.

This VW Bus is being sold through a CLASSIC.COM Pro and is located in Oklahoma City, OK.

  About the model

Volkswagen introduced the Type 2 in 1950. The first generation of the Type 2 is known as the T1. Based on the Type 1 Beetle, these early Type 2 vehicles featured the now classic design with the sloping trim lines and large chrome VW emblem on the front. The T1 Type 2 was offered in a variety of body styles and variants, including pickup trucks, panel vans, and camping vehicles, all of which featured a rear-mounted engine. The most notable variants of the T1 Type 2 were the Samba and the Westfalia. While European production of the T1 ended in 1967, production continued until 1975 in Brazil. The T1 was replaced by the T2 Type 2.
