Description

I HAD TO pull the ad as it originally showed the bike's location as Aurora, CO, which is my old address, so just to be clear, the bike is located in Dickinson, ND 58601. My apologies for the mixup. This is an almost all original YL-1E I bought from the estate of the original owner a few years ago. As you can see it has extremely low miles and is very straight and clean. It was pretty grubby from years of sitting, but cleaned up very nicely. It's not perfect nor restored, but a very, very nice and original vintage 2-stroke Yamaha. When I first acquired the bike I had a buddy who runs a vintage Japanese repair shop go through the bike and make sure it was in tune and running correctly. With a new battery the bike started on the first push of the button. Unfortunately, I haven't ridden the bike in a few years and so it's time to let it go to the next caretaker. The battery that was in the bike died and so it will need a new battery. But I expect it will fire immediately with a new battery, as it always has. It does tend to leak a bit of oil after running, out of the header/muffler joint and from one of the engine cases, but new gaskets and/or seals should take care of that. I probably put a total of 100 miles on the bike in the last 10 years. The gas tank is clean inside and so hasn't needed any external filters on the gas lines. There is very light pitting on some of the chrome, the worst of which is on the front wheel rim which I've attached a picture of. I'd say the light pitting was due to humidity and not ever being left outside as the bike is very rust-free overall. Please note that there aren't any mirrors on the bike - it was delivered to me that way. The tires appear to be the originals and have the typical issues like dry cracking, though they and the inner tubes hold air. The only things I'm aware of that aren't original are the seat foam and seat cover -- I had them recovered shortly after I bought the bike -- and the rear mudflap, which was missing. All of the footpeg rubber and shift and brake rubber are original and undamaged. The tank badges are nice originals, not replicas. All the lights work, including the backlighting for the speedometer. Everywhere you look on the bike you can see how little use it's had over the years. The bike will come with the original owner's manual, original warranty card, and nice original dealer brochure that I found folded up and inserted into the owner's manual. I believe it isn't a replica brochure as it is two-sided and shows details about the Yamaha oil-injection system on the flip side (see pictures). I will also include the dipstick you use for checking the transmission fluid level (also shown in one of the side cover pictures). The bike will be sold on a Bill of Sale. I have the title to the bike, but there are some issues with the title. Send me a message if you want to know the details. I'm starting the bidding at a mere $99 so this bike will sell in true auction fashion. Good luck and happy bidding.
