History: Rust free, part of a private collection where the owner rotates and maintains his cars regularly. The majority of people put a high price tag on low mileage examples, they assume they’re buying a new car. I don’t subscribe to this theory as the reality of rubber vulcanization and sitting unused is incredibly hard on a cars components. This car has extensive documentation and is very well maintained. I have been around several of these cars through my life and this is a nice example.

Engine & Transmission: The 5.6 liter V8 engine is strong and shifts smoothly, the car has a very clean engine bay with attention kept to keep the car original and function as it did leaving the factory. One of the main items you should always check when buying an R107 is the timing chain maintenance. This car has had a new timing chain and timing chain tensioners (guides) installed at a 120,519 miles (see documentation) an example of how well this car has been maintained.  The underside is very dry. Five new Michelin tires (date code 2022). New brakes and rotors on all four wheels. Oil and transmission fluids just serviced. I’ve driven several 560SL’s and this one seems to be a little more nimble and responsive than others in my opinion. A perspective buyer should take it for a test drive and see for yourself.

Body: Extremely solid, body is in excellent condition, all gaps, rubber, and lenses are great. The paint (587 Cabernet Red Metallic) is very nice, no dens or waviness, no rust. Hard top and soft top are in excellent condition, the soft top tray is very nice and clean (see detailed photos). I took photos of the car in different lights to show the paint color. There are three small paint chips on the rear of the car (see detailed photos). The trunk area is very nice and comes with new spare tire, tools, and jack, new battery 4/21 (see detailed photos). This color is extremely eye caching and a perfect complement to the cream leather interior.

Interior: The interior is very clean. All glass is clean and clear of any chips or cracks. Original Becker radio, antenna goes up as down as new. The A/C blows cold. All gauges work as they should, Very nice cockpit.

Summary: This is an extremely solid example of a Mercedes-Benz 560SL in a beautiful color combination. This car has been kept very well and it shows. When buying an R107 you should always look for extensive documentation to ensure it has been well maintained over the years, This one has. A turnkey car that is fun and stylish to drive as well as the piece of mind that it has been attended too it’s entire life. I am pretty particular and this example fits the bill nicely, perfect for cruising during the week and taking to car shows on the weekend.
