Leesi: Khoa Manee mix (FCID# 03/04/2019 - 23)'s story

　　From the foster: Leesi (FCID# 03/04/2019 - 23) meets all the breed standards of a Khao Manee, including the odd eyes! She is truly special with pure white fur, and complete blue/gold heterochromia. I still have to figure out if that ear is deaf though. Since she has only one blue eye, it is possible she could be deaf on that side's ear, but is almost guaranteed to hear on the other. I think they may be sisters. She is super sweet and affectionate. She will be available for adoption 3/14/19.

　　More from the foster: Leesi has the oval tipped ears, almond eyes, curved in bridge of the nose, and other breed standards, as well as the prized 'Odd Eyes', so I really do think some of the mix is in her.

　　I checked Leesi's hearing, not in the vet suggested way, but I came up with my own experiment where I had her standing and looking at my friend, and snapped my finger by the ear on the side of her blue eye. My theory is if she could only hear out of the other ear, that is where the sound would register and she would turn to the noise from the gold eye side. If she can hear in both ears, she would turn to the side I snapped on. She not only turned to the side I snapped on, but also that ear twitched at the sound. As I am not a vet I cannot 100% confirm, and am ordering a tuning fork for the normal test used, but I do not think she is deaf in either ear.

　　Now, as to hypo-allergenic: Leesi sheds, but less then normal.

　　Fun fact, the pure white breed of cat known to often have heterochromia, the Khao Manee, or Khao Plort, also known as the Diamond Eye cat,originated in Thailand and was considered so special that for over 100 years only Thai royalty was allowed to have them; odd eyes especially were considered magical and lucky for their owners. The breed never even left the country until 1999 and even still is considered a national treasure, especially ones with the odd eyes like Leesi has. Here is more information about the breed:
