  My story

Handsome, playful, loving! That's 1-year-old Max!This adorable, sweet guy is ready to make some memories with you. Max is an energetic guy who really enjoys his playtime. He loves to sprint around the yard, and zoomies are definitely not out of the question. Max likes spending time with his dog friends too. Of course, tag and chase are two of his favorite games. Max sure loves his daily walks. He prances with pleasure with his tail happily wagging.Max is known to be a cuddle bug too. It may take a little while to warm up to new friends. But when he's comfortable, Max really enjoys attention. He'll lean in for some soft pets, but make sure that they are under the chin please.Max may enjoy a quieter, adult-only home. He is looking for a family that will help him to gain some confidence and will understand that he may need some extra time to settle in.If this handsome guy is pulling at your heart strings, why not stop in and spend some time together. Max would love to start a new life chapter with you.QUIET HOME, RECOMMEND ADULTS ONLY, EVERYONE MEET FIRST: Max has lived with children and was reported to be friendly. However, he was also quite fearful in general in this home. He was adopted as a puppy and grew up with these kids, so that is a different situation than being adopted into a home with kids that he is not familiar with. During his behavior evaluation, Max was hesitant to approach, lowered body, tucked tail. He would lean in and stay near for pets and did seem to enjoy the attention. Petting under his chin seemed more enjoyable than petting down his back - he would crouch and flinch. History of being sensitive to his owners' body language/tone of voice, and he would often urinate from fear. Max would likely do best in a quiet home with a predictable routine, with owners who understand they may always have to be conscious of the way they interact with Max to help him feel more comfortable. He may be able to live with respectful, dog-savvy teenagers. Are you on the fence about adopting? Consider fostering for two weeks. It's a great way to see how Max fits in your home before making things official. Please call us for more information at (517) .

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Max, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
