OBJECTIVES To help set up the Youth Café as a safe and welcoming space for young people S1-S6 to meet and socialise. It is primarily for Buchlyvie young people, but depending on numbers, friends from local villages may be invited. Numbers are likely to be about 20-25. This is a new youth project and the Youth Worker will be responsible for running the sessions with the support of local volunteers. Facilities will include table tennis, games console, music, arts/crafts and tuck shop. We anticipate inviting volunteers and professionals to do specific activities, such as baking, drama, arts and crafts, disco or arrange an outing to Stirling for cinema or theatre. Specific activities will be in consultation with the young people, youth worker and volunteers. The youth worker needs to have good communication and listening skills and ideally be experienced working with young people of 12-17 age range, supporting them to participate in games and activities, helping to build confidence and skills and creating a friendly supportive atmosphere where they can socialise and make new friends. The youth worker also needs to be aware of personal responsibility in relation to health and safety.
