Description

Finance Officer

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to work for an organisation that makes a difference?

An organisation that nurtures its staff, encourages development and values your contribution and no two days are the same?

We are looking for an experienced and highly motivated Accountant to join the friendly team in the Finance function.

You do not need to be a practising Christian or have a faith to work here - around 50% of staff are not practising Christians but are comfortable with the Christian ethos that underpins the organisations work. However, all staff do have a desire to make a difference.

Position: Finance Officer

Location: Oxford/hybrid

Hours: Part-time, 25 hours per week (0.675 FTE)

Salary: GBP33,408.44 to GBP35,978.24 pro-rata per annum per annum (dependent on experience)

Closing Date: 09:00 on Tuesday 30 January 2024

Interview Date: Tuesday 6 February 2024 at Church House, Oxford

The Role

In this role, you will support the Deputy Director of Finance in providing a proactive, efficient, and highly effective finance service. Specifically, this will include assisting with the day-to-day transactions in each entity and helping with the production of quarterly management accounts.

There will also be a specific focus on supporting Church of England schools within the Diocese with their capital-related projects, working closely with the Premises Support Team.

This role will support the Director of Finance, and the Deputy Director of Finance, in the effective management and administration of 600 Funds on behalf of Parishes, totalling over GBP70m in assets.

You will play a key role within a Finance department totalling 8 staff. The team has recently been restructured and also adopted new finance systems. There is also the potential to assist in further systems development.

About You

You will embrace the challenge that such a varied role brings. One moment, you could be answering a technical query from a Parish (e.g. Can I spend the money in the Roof Fund to pay a youth worker's salary? ), and the next, working on a multi-million-pound school building project.

With proven experience in producing timely, high quality and accurate financial information, your can do approach to work will inspire you to deliver excellent, meaningful financial reports that will have high impact for stakeholders. You will be flexible in your working style, have strong numerical proficiency, confident communication skills, and excellent organisational and monitoring abilities, all whilst dotting the i s and crossing the t s!

In return, there will be many opportunities for you to enhance your skill set, gain new experiences, and develop your career pathway within this important function.
