This 1968 Shelby Mustang GT350 is one of 224 Hertz Rent-A-Racers produced for the model year and was originally delivered to Reynolds Ford in Syracuse, New York for use at the local airport. An extensive mechanical and cosmetic refurbishment was subsequently performed, including a rebuild of the original 302ci V8, resealing the C-4 automatic transmission, completely refreshing the interior, new wiring, and much more. New upper and lower control arms were installed along with new perches and shocks. The original coil springs were sandblasted and powder coated. The factory steering box was restored, and new tie rods, idler arm, power assist valve, a new ram pump, and new power steering pump were fitted along with new lines and hoses.
