It needed some work to get it up to my level of operating standards. I take great pride in my vehicles, and I wanted to make sure that this Daytona well taken care of. That way I could enjoy every ride and not think twice about any reliability issues.To get the bike to where I wanted it a number of things needed to be addressed. As a result I ended up taking the bike to several different shops over the years. They are listed below, along with what services they performed on the bike.Shop #1. (Sep 2017 - August 2019) Tonowanda Motorsports. Tonowanda, NY. (Closed due to COVID 2019). The bike was kept at the shop for an extended period due to the shop's difficulty diagnosing issues with the bike. I chose not to pressure the shop because it claimed to specialize in the model. Also it was close to where I lived and the cost was reasonable. Ultimately the shop did what it could but couldn't get the bike running. I was unable to find the receipts for this shop. They only dealt with paper receipts and nothing electronic (as did subsequent shops that I took the bike to for future servicing).*The shop performed the following; a fuel injector replacement, replaced the fuel tank liner, and cleaned the fuel lines. The tires were replaced, some hosiery, and so were all of the blinkers. The bike was cleaned and treated with a rust inhibitor. Work order total $1250.00_____________________________________Shop #2. The bike is in very good working order. It has a very smooth and powerful ride. It has a scorpion exhaust installed on it that increases the growl. However I have the original exhaust that will ship with the bike as well. The bike has extremely low miles. There is actually very few comparable bikes to it in existence. It is a 21 year old bike that still can hit over 120 mph in the blink of an eye (though I wouldn't recommend going that fast unless on a track). It is in near MINT CONDITION, and has been maintained that way since my ownership.*Potential needed work:1) From time to time the speedometer doesn't operate correctly. RK Motorsports attempted to diagnose and fix the issue with a couple of different remedies. As a result it operates much more reliably than it did but it still isn't 100% consistent. I would suggest possibly replacing the display. For some reason I get a feeling that it may be some slightly faulty connectors resulting in the issue.2) A throttle remapping should be considered. I have infrequently found that on a dedicated roll on the HP power curve can sort of flatten in 3rd and then increases again when shifted to 4th gear and beyond. These are actually relatively inexpensive work orders/upgrades in relation to all of the work that has been performed on the bike up to this point.So, in my honest opinion they would be my next areas of focus for anyone looking to purchase this great bike. Lastly, buyers should always keep in mind that this is a 21 year old bike that is literally deemed a classic because of its age. It has been restored to a level that would please most any buyer, but mostly one who can appreciate what this bike is and the storied history of it.Shipping is buyer responsibility.
