NEWLY RESTORED! Antique French Provincial Chippendale Dining Room Set.

　　SET INCLUDES: Dining Room Table including Two Leaves and 6 matching chairs.

　　THE DETAILS: The entire set is antique, made from SOLID WHITE OAK in the Chippendale tradition. It is best described as French Provincial Chippendale (one of the fancier versions of Chippendale) based upon the ornate carvings on the knees and feet (ball and claw) of both table and chairs. The wood, White Oak, is a very strong and stable wood which is why this set has lasted through the years, and also imparts the GORGEOUS Tiger Oak patter you see across the main table top (table top is tiger oak veneer on hardwood substrate - only way to construct a table top this ornate). Table top has a scalloped edge all the way around. All table and chair joinery is classic mortise and tenon. The carving on this set are really excellent (16 carved legs in total! - knees and classic ball and claw feet). The back splat on the chairs are VERY nicely carved as well as you can see in the pictures below.

　　RESTORATION: I painstakingly restored this set from beast back into beauty (this set was in some seriously bad shape). Table and chairs were all taken apart, cleaned, reglued, and reinforced. All Cross supports glued back in place on the chairs or fabricated new. They are solid as a rock now. Every chair was reupholstered from scratch, repairing the springs/batting underneath, one at a time (Hope you like the new choice of fabric!) The set was then restained all the way around with a rich brown (Minwax English Chestnut), and then refinished (semi-gloss polyurethane - no need to use COASTERS ANYMORE!). The Table Top had special attention: Sanded back down to bare wood, stained, then 1 coat of penetrating oil (to pop the grain!) followed by three coats of strong protective semi-gloss polyurethane (wanted it shiny but not too shiny. It is an antique after all). It's such beautiful wood on the table top, it deserves to be highlighted!

　　DIMENSIONS: 5 ft. x 3 ft 3 in (table) and top sits 30 in. above the ground. Each Table Leaf is 21 inches x 3 ft 3 in, giving an additional 42 inches of table length total. Chairs are approx. 22 in x 18 in and seat height is 20 in above the ground

　　This is a really special set, one that you won't find very often, certainly not in this condition! Painstakingly restored from top to bottom, and looking for a good home for many more years to come!
