Location: We are located between Reading and Basingstoke, with onsite parking.

Package: GBP33,770- GBP48,000 (depending on suitability, qualifications and level of experience)

Closing Date: 18th January 2024

AWE have an existing light ion accelerator used to deliver high energy neutrons for internal and external customers and are looking to replace this accelerator with new capabilities. AWE is considering a range of options including a 5 or 8 MV tandem accelerator combined with beam optics for a range of ion species, to enable ion transport and species selection and temporal shaping and bunching.

As the Accelerator lead you will support the operation, maintenance, improvement, and obsolescence management of the accelerator(s), this will include an understanding of ion transport and its development. Initially the role will include supporting the Accelerator(s) specifications, requirements and building relationships with suppliers and the Accelerator international community. From there it will involve the procurement and installation. The candidate should be able to show aptitude in problem solving and have the core skills needed to modernise, improve, and develop existing and new diagnostics.

The expectation is the right candidate will grow into the role with experience being seen as an advantage. Training and development of practical skills will be part of the role as required.
