  My story

  From Bruce:

I am so happy to be here with my foster family. Even though I was nervous of all the new people and the things in their home, I have never shown any aggression. Even when feeling sick and in pain after my tooth was removed, I only had nose bumps (my version of kisses) and tail wags for everyone. I don’t like yelling, so a laid-back home would be best. In general, slow introductions to people and other dogs works for me so I don’t get scared. When I am scared, I just sink to the floor and look away. I love to lie around with my temporary family, leaning on them or lying at their feet. I look to my friend Zazzy for cues on what to do during the day. Coming from the street, I have “stolen” food off the countertops; I am pretty tall, so I can reach and some foods are just too tempting if left out. I am learning all the time from both my humans and Zazzy on how to be the bestest dog. I am sweet, and dreaming of a family just willing to give me a chance.

  From Bruce’s foster:

Around 4 years of age, it’s unknown exactly what Bruce Wayne’s past was like before being rescued. Found on the street, it’s clear he had a rough time and didn’t know what being part of a family was like until coming to our home. Since being with us, Bruce has undergone a tooth extraction, neuter procedure, and his heartworm treatment. Despite everything he has been through, Bruce has made amazing progress and is now ready to find his fur-ever home.

Bruce lives with us (mom, dad and our 2 teenagers) in a 2-story house with a fenced yard. From understanding regular household noises like the ice machine, vacuum, and washing machine to being loved on and cuddled with, Bruce has adjusted quickly to life in our household. He is doing well with his potty-training schedule and sleeps through the night in his crate. He has never marked in the house.

Bruce has shown no resource guarding with food, toys, his crate, or his humans. He shares everything!

Bruce is just about 75lbs, and despite being heartworm positive, is a big, happy, strong boy. We foster him along with a litter of 7 10-week-old puppies, and our resident 2-year-old, 40 lb. dog, Zazzy is also in the home. While the puppies can be a bit much for Bruce (he runs away from them), he absolutely loves his buddy Zazzy. Bruce likes to follow her around and they play gently in the house. Bruce likes to pick up objects in one room and carry them to a different part of the house. He is never destructive with those objects; He literally just picks things up and puts them down when bored of carrying them. We are working on his understanding of what “things” are toys and appropriate for him to have. Bruce is a bit picky with chew toys, but does enjoy cow ears and is a fan of squeaky stuffed animals. Toys seem new to him, and he is still learning how to play with them. Due to his recent heartworm treatment, we don’t let him run around outside or over exert himself. He enjoys sunbathing on a chaise lounge or the decking, just enjoying the breeze or watching for lizards with Zazzy. Bruce enjoys taking leisurely walks around the neighborhood, and is doing well on a loose leash. He shows excitement and pulls when he sees a bunny, but remains easy to manage. Bruce appears afraid of bodies of water, drinking out of our swimming pool, but never dipping a paw in. He’s not the biggest fan of bath time either, but loves to be toweled off and snuggled with afterwards. He actually falls asleep while being brushed.

Buce would do well in a home with or without another dog. If with another dog, a

laid-back dog who can help him grow his confidence would be perfect. Dog training classes would also be great for Bruce to continue socialization and learning how to be the best dog he can be. Adopting Bruce will bring unconditional love to your home.

With patience and positive reinforcement, I am confident Bruce will quickly become a beloved member of your family.

Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it! Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success!
