My story
Layla (her real name) was pulled from a high-kill facility in Georgia after being surrendered by her owner. She is really sweet and loves attention. She is highly food motivated and picks up commands and cues quickly. She knows sit and to take treats gently. She is potty trained and crate trained, although she does not have to be crated when we are away.
She gets along well with other dogs who are mellow and non-reactive to her aggressive play style. She does not pay attention to cats. Layla is used to walking in harness on a retractable leash; she can pull if she gets excited about something she sees or smells, and we are working on that. Layla is reliable off-leash on our property for going out to potty and has been on off-leash walks in fields behind our house. She consistently comes when called. Layla is currently being fostered in Ohio and can travel to meet potential adopters. I would love for Layla to find her furever home, but I need to get our three very intense fosters separated to avoid their aggressive play escalating into fights, and that is the only reason I would send her to a new foster home. She does get along fine with our two resident dogs. Layla is up to date on vaccines and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Layla, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
