My story

　　Meet adorable Perla! Please read her entire post before reaching out to the shelter. This adorable little 5lb girl is afraid of new people and she will snap if she is pushed too quickly to interact with new people.

　　Perla is a great little friend when she is comfortable with people, but it takes multiple interactions for her to come out of her shell. Once your are her friend, she is the happiest little dog. Perla came to the shelter because her owner was undergoing treatment for cancer, and was no longer healthy enough to care for her. She will need an adopter who can come to the shelter multiple times to visit her during the week, and with the patience to be able to sit with her and allow her to approach without being pushed, called to, or petted too quickly.Perla is looking for a patient, local adopter with a quiet home and ability to take her for walks, as she is very active!

　　She is looking for an adult home with no children, or a home that can find a safe spot for her to be when unfamiliar children visit.Perla may be able to live with another small dog that enjoys an energetic friend, as she is very busy! This little chihuahua does love to cuddle but only with folks who have the patience to understand her fear of strangers, and move very slowly. Perla would thrive in a quieter environment without having to be around lots of new people. Perla may be able to live with another small dog who doesn't mind her running around and jumping on them.
