Pit Bull Terrier - Billie - Medium - Young - Female - Dog
COURTESY POSTING
*We picked Billie up off the street in South Phoenix near John R. Davis Elementary along with her sister Kayla. Our vet estimated based on their size/bone structure that the girls were around 5 months old. Billie weighed 13 pounds the day we brought her home. My wife and I initially agreed to keep both girls if they checked out with a clean bill of health from the vet and if they got along with our 3-½ year old black mouth cur Dante.
Both girls came home healthy as can be and after a smooth introduction to their new brother Dante were ready to be two new permanent additions to our family. At about the 7 to 8 month mark our two girls started to exhibit some aggressive behavior toward each other.Through extensive research, consultation with our dog friends, vet we learned that this is not at all uncommon among littermates. So we?ve come to the difficult conclusion/decision to adopt one of the girls out.
We?re opting to re-home Billie because she is more submissive to both Kayla and Dante. When re-homing a littermate its typically in the dog?s best interest and benefit to adopt the more submissive one. They thrive in such circumstances. Aside from being the more submissive of the two girls Billie is also learning, progressing with basic training, simple commands more than her sister Kayla.
We know nothing of Billie?s previous owner/home situation but she is a weary, cautious girl when meeting new people. She may cower, hide and even grumble (as she does with every vet visit) but once she is reassured it?s ok with loving pets, talk she is able to relax. She needs a loving, gentle and reassuring person who is willing to earn her love and trust. Once you do she is the most incredibly loving, cuddly and playful girl. She?s got plenty of energy and loves to go for walks, play. She?s also happy to just keep you company and lay or sit by your side too.
She?ll like to lay on furniture if you let her but knows to stay off if you tell her. She?s plenty happy in her bed. She?s not 100% potty trained but does great with a consistent food and water schedule. Billie has yet to meet any children. She gets along fine with her brother Dante and gets along 90% of the time with her sister Kayla. She would however do best on her own or with an older male. Billie is about 9 months old and weighs 30 pounds. Our vet estimates she probably won?t get much bigger than 50 pounds. Billie is spayed, current on all her shots. She?s yet to be micro chipped. We aren?t asking for any re-homing fee. We?re just looking for the best possible home for this sweet girl. Thank you.
