Description

Romeo is one of 46 special rabbits saved by the Sacramento Animal Control officers who confiscated them from a bad owner during a heatwave in June, 2013.

Sacramento House Rabbit Society partnered with the Front Street Shelter to care for all of these rabbits until they could be moved to foster homes or adopted.

Romeo was just a baby in June and grew to be one of the largest boys of the bunch.

He is 12 lbs. and has beautiful gray points and a uniquely, thick, plush coat because his father was a large chinchilla rabbit.

He was one of our favorites because of his sweet nature while at the shelter which helped get him adopted on Halloween, but when the new adopter noticed a change in his eyes a few weeks later, we took him into a foster home and brought him to an eye specialist.

Romeo has glaucoma in both eyes which will lead to early blindness which will not affect the quality or length of his life.

Anyone who has had a blind rabbit knows, the loss of vision will not stop them from running, jumping, playing, or enjoying interaction with his family.

His special need will will require eye drops twice a day and a trip to the animal eye specialist a few times a year.

Whoever is lucky enough to adopt Romeo will discover this rabbit has a happy soul and is filled with joy and love.

He wants to play or be petted and is excited when he hears the new food being prepared.

His litterbox habits are great and he doesn't dig or destroy his space.

Romeo is a perfect house rabbit who needs a home that can give him space, attention, love, and eye drops.

All rabbits are spayed/neutered (age permitting) and litter box trained. All rabbits are to be adopted to indoor homes only.

Current bunny parents are encouraged to bring their rabbits to adoption clinics if they are interested in adopting a companion rabbit. Your rabbit must be spayed or neutered to be eligible to meet one of our fosters. HRS volunteers will be happy to help your bunny through that feisty first date.
