　　The Big Lebowski is a 1998 criminal activity funny film written and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. It stars Jeff Bridges as Jeff Lebowski, a jobless Los Angeles slacker and passionate bowler nicknamed "the Dude". After a case of wrong identification, the Dude is introduced to a millionaire likewise named Jeffrey Lebowski. When the millionaire Lebowski's trophy better half is abducted, he commissions the Dude to deliver the ransom to protect her release. When the Dude's close friend Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) schemes to keep the complete ransom, the strategy goes awry. Julianne Moore, Steve Buscemi, and John Turturro also star, with Philip Seymour Hoffman, David Huddleston, and Tara Reid appearing in supporting duties. There is some narration at the beginning and to completion by a cowboy understood just as "The Stranger", played by Sam Elliott.
