By 1974, the muscle car era was coming to a close. Horsepower was down, emissions standards were higher and the Big Three were starting to feel the squeeze. Pontiac, however, decided they werent finished just yet, and carried the Super Duty option into the newly restyled Firebird Trans Am. Equipped with the famous SD-455 engine rated at 290hp, the car was offered with either a 4-speed manual or 3-speed Turbo 400 automatic transmission. Buyers had one last chance at owning a new factory big-block high-performance muscle car.
This particular Super Duty features its original matching-numbers engine and transmission. It underwent a full rotisserie restoration, refinished in the original Buccaneer Red with white interior. Its equipped with the Turbo 400 automatic transmission and factory air conditioning. The car comes with its original Window Sticker and sales invoice, along with photos of the original owner taking delivery. With only 731 automatic Firebird Trans Am Super Duty cars produced, this is truly a rare bird.
