"Beyond the TV series! Beyond the Movie!" So reads the titling across the top of the cover. Marvel began publishing a Star Trek series of comics a few months after the debut of "Star Trek: The Motion Picture." There were 18 issues in all, ending with the February 1982 issue. This paperback comic (ISBN: 00) contains three of those 18 adventures:
Eclipse Of Reason (#12)
Rand, now promoted to Lt. Commander, prepares to leave the galaxy on the exploratory ship USS Icarus with a crew of Phaetonians, a race of disembodied intellects with psi abilities, one of which Rand has married. As Icarus encounters the galactic barrier the Phaetonians go mad, and Kirk and the Enterprise must intercept them before they kill billions.
Like A Woman Scorned (#11)
On a rescue mission to Andronicus, the Enterprise picks up survivors, including a a man many consider a cult leader. Danger soon manifests itself and Kirk and crew must fight for their lives against magic-wielding creatures.
Tomorrow or Yesterday (#7)
Enterprise has been dispatched to evacuate inhabitants of the Andrea star system before Vega radiation exterminates all life there. Upon beaming down to Andrea IV, the landing party finds giant statues of Kirk, Spock, and McCoy that are 24,000 years old and that the Andreans consider their saviors.
These comics were drawn prior to the release of "The Wrath of Khan" (1982) and feature Kirk back in the command chair of the Enterprise and all Star Fleet personnel in "The Motion Picture" uniforms. The book itself is in great shape with vibrant colors and no tears or severe abrasions.
