ORIGINAL ART - FILM ADVERTISING ON TELEVISION "THE NEXT MAN"Artist: DAVE PETHERFor my Spring sales this year, I've decided to list a few by Dave Pether - a British illustrator who passed in 2021, and whose Estate I am now representing . . . so that a wider audience of collectors can have an opportunity to appreciate and acquire his work.  These may be currently listed on my site, but this is your chance to pick one up at a discount - so as to reclaim space on my website and closet in order to list more!   These are all with me in the U.S.   This listing: In the 1980s Dave Pether started producing several paintings for the weekend British TV series called London Weekend Television (LWT) - well known for showing American films and TV show series as well as British ones.   The images were used for intro titles as well as backgrounds for commercial breaks.  Most would have been used 1.   Several of the paintings still have their original acetate overlay, with text - as this one does - which is interesting for historical reasons/provenance, but can be removed, of course, for framing.   This one was commissioned for the showing of the well-known Sean Connery film "The Next Man"  and it's handpainted in Gouache and acrylic on illustration board with an acetate overlay that shows the text, 15.75" x  14"  - with a label attesting to authenticity signed by Pether's widow, mounted to the back.   Star power here!!  Pether created a variety of paintings for LWT for many shows - each of them highly detailed.  I am selecting from those shown on my site that I have here with me and starting them at very low prices....
