My story

　　**PLEASE NOTE** Netherquartz is NOT hypoallergenic. He sheds - a lot! He is not suitable for a home with someone who has cat allergies.**SPECIAL NEEDS** Netherquartz is chronically ill. He has been tested negative for FIV/FeLeuk but can never seem to shake the upper respiratory yuck. He sneezes a lot, and his forever home should be able and willing to bring him to the vet for a round of antibiotics as needed when it flares up - for the rest of his life. He may be contagious to other cats, we're not sure. He currently lives with another chronically ill cat.Netherquartz is a sweet boy. He's neutered, current on his rabies vaccination (he's good until October 17, 2022), and has been microchipped. His mom was a Siamese cross, and his dad was a sphynx (hairless cat). Netherquartz has normal cat fur and he does shed. He is white with blue spots. He has gorgeous bright blue eyes.Netherquartz was born 7/20/2015. He does wonderfully with children, doesn't mind dogs, and uses the scratching post. He is litter box trained, but sometimes he's been known to stand in the litter box with all four feet and still manage to poop outside the box. He may need a larger litter box or perhaps to try a covered or top-entry litter box (we have not attempted these).Netherquartz has a dominant personality. He pairs well with female cats, and will allow the dominant female in his current household to remain dominant, but he bullies some other male cats (not all). He does not fight (no claws and hissing), but he postures and guards both the litter box and the food and water dishes, even if given multiple locations for both - he will follow the other male around to posture and resource guard. He needs a home where there are no other male cats. This is why Netherquartz was surrendered.Netherquartz is not overwhelmingly loving (most of the time), but he likes to be where people are and he's curious what you're doing. He does ask for attention sometimes, he loves to be petted, and he doesn't mind when the kids pick him up and carry him around. He's the kind of cat that wouldn't mind if you left him home alone for the weekend as long as you filled his food and water before you go, and promised a good cuddle when you got home again. He's also the kind of cat that will trip you on your way to the bathroom because he wants you to stop and pet him. He enjoys tummy rubs.Netherquartz went to the vet 9/15/21, where he tested negative for FIV/FeLeuk, and was put on another round of antibiotics. It would seem that Netherquartz will not fully recover from his chronic cold, but will require treatment (as needed) when it gets worse for the rest of his life. We do not know if this is contagious as he lives with another cat who also has the same chronic sneezing and nasal discharge. Both have tested negative for FIV/FeLeuk and been given a clean bill of health otherwise. He may do best in a home without other cats just in case, or with another cat who is also suffering non-FIV/FeLeuk sinus issues. His adoption fee has been reduced to $75 to an approved home.
