My story

　　Sampson is currently at Follow Me Dogs Training learning confidence building.

　　The special person that decides to give Sampson his forever home is going to gain the softest, fluffiest perfect addition to their home. Sampson will bring so much joy to the person who is willing to be patient with him and give him the necessary time to open up.

　　Sampson needs a strong hand and someone who has and will stick to a routine with him. Sampson is very much a dog that needs to have a human around him, but not necessarily interact with him. Once he warms up to you, which take about 30 days or so, he will let you know when he wants attention. To that point, Sampson will also let you know when he does not want to be interacted with by letting out a growl. All this means is he doesn’t want to be petted and it is best to give him no attention. The more he gets comfortable in the home, the less this happens. Now you may think that 30 days is a long time, but in reality, it takes most adopted dogs anywhere from one to three years to fully open up and show their personality to their new home.

　　The things we learned in the little time Sampson was here was: - He can shake - He can lay down - He is food motivated - He is very gentle with food and treats - He listens very well - When he is playful, he nibbles at your hand and rubs his head into you - He is a good car rider - He loves walks - He loves new people, but should not be approached by them - He loves toys - He does well with dogs of all sexes and sizes - He will let you wipe his jowls after drinking water - He is potty trained and can last 8 hours, if needed - He did very well at the groomer and got positive reviews

　　As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us.      Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.) Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine and if able, a microchip. $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test, a microchip, and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.  Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience. We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation.
