From the Foster Family:
Whoopi is being exposed to a lot of new territory as we go on our 1-2 mile walks. She is getting more comfortable each time. She runs easy with another dog on the walk, if she is alone she is cautious but does go along. She is happy and relaxed when we come closer to her yard. She has not been off leash but does not show signs of wanting to run, rather she stays close to the house/yard she is familiar with.
When she hears or sees something that startles her she runs to her human. She is sleeping and eating and playing well and seems very healthy. She will share a food bowl with another dog, when I put two bowls out they move back and forth. I think she will be trainable as she acclimates to the new surroundings.
She likes snow, plastic, chew
bones, and stuffed
toys. She is not highly motivated by treats, rather praise seems to be what she is looking for. When playing with another dog she is very tolerant of their pushing, playfulness, etc. She is best suited for dogs that are middle-sized and bigger. She never uses her mouth on humans, she offers her head for praise and petting but does not chew on/mouth hands at all. In general, she has been gentle and friendly with people. She may be timid at first though.
Potty training is underway and she is halfway there.
She will bark at outside goings-on but not excessively
.
Her coat is pretty full and thick for being in the southern climate. She has not been cold on our outside walks. She likes to be with people but does not cling. Overall, she's a great dog who exhibits traits of her breed mixes and would be a wonderful working dog.
